The 375 Field Communicator was a follow up to an existing Emersion product. Capitalizing on their success with the popular 275 model, the 375 added Foundation Fieldbus support, along with downloadable device descriptions. The portable communicator was certified intrinsically safe by utilizing infrared serial communication to receive updates.
My contributions:
As the project ramped up, my primary contribution was coaching the development team on Window Mobile software development specifics (dev environment, remote debugging, design patterns, etc). After the project was in full swing I transitioned to writing the C++ code responsible for receiving and applying the device description uploads. The result of my work was receiving the European Patient: “Field maintenance tool with improved device description communication and storage” (04252905.9)
